Fourth U Shelters Disaster Chaplaincy Services

Posted by 4thUadmin Nov 15 2008 under A Time To Serve,News Items,Pastoral

Disaster Chaplaincy Services, a multi-faith organization devoted to helping victims of crises deal with the emotional and spiritual shocks during emergencies, recently lost their home. Julie Taylor, the Executive Director of DCS and member at Fourth U, put out a call for help and the Church answered. The organization’s nerve center has temporarily been relocated to our choir loft. Our Senior Minister, Rev. Rosemary Bray McNatt, and two of our Affiliate Ministers, Rev. Ed Bolella and Rev. Jill Bowden, are volunteers with DCS, and it’s a big boost to our ministry to aid in this important spiritual and healing endeavor. You can learn more about the organization at www.disasterchaplaincy.org .

Join in the Water Communion Ceremony and bring water to the morning service on Sunday, November 30. This ceremony involves merging waters from many places into one bowl to symbolize the merger of community and a blessing of the waters. Please bring water from as many places and as far away as you can. Water will also be available if you can’t bring water of your own.

New Approaches to Personal Ministry at Fourth U

Posted by 4thUadmin Nov 01 2008 under A Time To Serve,Spirituality

Are you looking to develop your spirit and personal ministry, and to deepen your relationship with your fellow parishioners here at Fourth U? There are opportunities now to do just that and we welcome your joining in our shared ministry as a way to help yourself and to help us as well. If you are interested in working with our young people, please contact Lisa Stiffler, who is developing this ministry with our youth.  Please talk with Spiritt if you would like to be part of the ministry that takes care of our finances — an important calling that you can share with others and that will help your personal growth as well. And if there is a way you believe that your calling is in helping us to communicate with the world outside of our walls, to let them know what we are doing and why, please contact Robert McNatt. You can find us after services, listed in the church directory, or you can let Alex in the church office know that you are interested in these ministries and he will let us know. In the ministry of all souls every one of us can play a part.

Auction Donations Still Urgently Needed

Donations are still needed for our third annual Auction Gala, scheduled for Saturday, November 22. All donations are needed but in particular we are looking for big-ticket items such as time in a country home, tickets to Broadway shows, high-end art, restaurant certificates, handmade items, and services. The donation deadline is November 14. The more items we get, the more money we’ll raise! You can download a donation form from www.4thu.org/auction, or stop by our auction table after services on Sunday. Email Aaron Hamburger, Auction Co-chair, at salhamb@aol.com with questions about donations and the auction.
