Introducing Interweave

Posted by 4thUadmin Jan 30 2008 under A Time To Serve

Interweave is a group of LGBTQ people and straight allies working to end oppression based on sexual orientation and gender identity, with the recognition that we will not be free until all oppression is a thing of the past. UU principles guide our work. We value and affirm the lives and experience of queer people of faith, regardless of their age, race, ethnicity, income level, or ability. By providing and supporting leadership and working in collaboration with other organizations of similar vision, we strive to connect and nurture all queer individuals, communities, and groups and their allies.

Support East African Leadership Training

Posted by 4thUadmin Jan 09 2008 under A Time To Serve

Fourth U is raising funds to help participants in the Leadership Training Team for Ministry travel to a conference in Nairobi, Kenya, where they will work with representatives of emerging Unitarian Universalist congregations in East Africa.  UU congregations have developed all over East Africa without leadership or assistance from the UUA, and now they have asked for our help. The total cost is $38,000, but we are not the only congregation raising funds for this conference.  Give generously to train African UU leaders by writing a check to Fourth Universalist Society, and writing “Africa Leadership Training” in the memo line; you can place your check in the collection plate on Sundays or mail it to the office. Your contributions will help leaders from all over East Africa deepen and spread the newest roots of Unitarian Universalism.

Poinsettia Fundraising Project

Posted by 4thUadmin Dec 22 2007 under A Time To Serve, News Items

Buy a poinsettia and support our fundraising effort. The beautiful poinsettias you see decorating the church this holiday season are part of the project to help us reach our goal of $17,500 this fiscal year. Take one home with you after services on either Sunday, December 23 or Christmas Eve, for either $20 (small) or $30 (large). Or buy one to be donated to the Kateri Home Residence to help make their season bright. You can give your money either to Pam Plate (who will be sitting at the Fourth U Boutique on Sunday) or Seana Anderson. Thank you for your support.

Holiday fur coat drive

Posted by 4thUadmin Nov 08 2007 under A Time To Serve

Open your closets and your warm hearts for our holiday fur coat drive. Working with the Humane Society, we’ll send fur items (jackets, stoles, hats, gloves, trim, scarves and muffs), to wildlife rehabilitators, who use them as bedding and nesting material for orphaned and injured animals in their care. Please drop off your tax-deductible donations to the 4th U Office from October 9-December 21.
